Earstone of fish. Bony fish have a sense organ to detect, gravity, acceleration and sound. This organ consists of a two labyrinths, one on the left side and one on the right side of the skull, of three connected bags in which earstones or otoliths can be found. The largest of the three is called sagitta and used for fish species determination.
